JD Nicholls has published the slides and code from his talk: Isometric Worlds and Real Time games. It covers building a real-time multiplayer game and what to look out for. The code is written in ES2015 and includes a Hello World to get started, some node basics and a Phaser webpack template. Just follow along through the links on the GitHub page and you'll be armed with a stack of toys to get building with.
