Mr. President: "Hey, Rass! Listen up. The world is falling apart, but the Corp has an important mission to pull it together, and you're the only man I can rely on. You heard about that Horsemen gang, didn't you? They rule the wasteland to the South from here. Their boss, that dastard Duke Mo has one thing that the Corp really needs. Fine Mo and take it. It's a powerful yet portable source of energy. Duke uses it for fuel his battle vehicle. He named it Red Horse - how dull is that? The Corp doesn't have spare funds at the moment... but we can pay for each enemy killed. Spare parts and scrap metal you know, and for how far you get. It's called motivation, right? Use that money to hire drivers and upgrade your gear. And the reward for Mo's head will be good, rest assured."

Road of Fury is a cartoony looking take on the Mad Max films. Your car remains fixed to the left side of the screen. You cannot control where it moves. All you can do is aim it's constantly firing gun. Hoardes of bikers, jeeps, drones and other nasties swarm onto the screen as you drive alone and by adjusting the aim line of your gun you can blow them away.

The more you shoot, the more money you earn. The more money you earn, the more upgrades you can buy. Upgrades include increasing the fire rate and damage of your guns, to power-ups like massive air strikes or disabling the enemies weapons for a short period of time. Earn enough money and you can sell your car and upgrade to something even better.

It's all about the distance and the upgrades. Now matter how well you play at the start you will barely be able to cover a fraction of the 6000M needed to reach Area 2. The more you power up, the further you can get. Manage to get far enough in a single run and you'll unlock more advanced areas.

You need to invest a bit of time upgrading but once done this game really comes into its own. And the screen filling with missiles from an air strike, explosions everywhere, rockets flying at you and bikers whipping out their UZIs is a sight to behold.
